I’m working on some new articles to post here, but in the meantime, I wanted to share this exercise with you. This was in a Bible Study on the life of Sarah I am working through this summer. (The study is called Shaped by God’s Promises by Shannon Popkin).
This exercise is called “Three Truths and a Fear”. The goal of this exercise is to keep our minds focused on the truth of God’s promises rather than the fears that try to overwhelm us. I’ll share my example below:
Truth: God has promised that he will be with me in whatever hard things I face in life. (Isaiah 43:2)
Truth: God’s steadfast love will never cease (Lamentations 3:22)
Truth: God has promised that he will continue to bear me up and carry me in old age. (Isaiah 46:4)
Fear: That I will not have anyone to help when I am old and in need of assistance.
What are your fears? Is there a fear that is threatening to overwhelm your faith in God’s promises? Try this exercise; do it for every fear you need to. And then post the truths somewhere you will be reminded of them often.
